RILEY JANE

Riley is just over a year.  She is growing up fast, and tries to keep up with her siblings.  She gets around with out a problem but is not walking yet. (Moms fault, I wouldn’t let anyone push her, and decided it was ok if she wasn’t walking by a year.)  She loves to babble, and will say things that sound like Dog, that, more….

She loves to watch t.v., especially if she thinks she is in control of the remote.  She is very wise for her age, and already puts up a fight if the kids try to take things from her.  She will scream, cry or bite to get what she wants.  She loves blankets, and prefers to have a bottle for bed.  Even if she only takes one sip.

She loves food, and knows what things are. She would scream for some candy anytime she saw the kids halloween buckets.  She has a very distinct personality already, and will be nothing like her sister.  She puts just about anything in her mouth, but will give it to you if you ask.  She loves to laugh, and even giggles when she passes gas.

She is getting long hair in the back but not on top.  Yep thats right she has a mullet.  She loves to take baths.  One of her favorite activities is to bring you toys or things.  She is a trickster.  She will act like she is going to give you a bite of food and right before she puts it into your mouth she takes it back.  The kids have a lot of fun with Riley.  She keeps us on our toes and gives us energy through out the day.

So if you notice Riley has really red eyes.  She was getting sick when we took these.  It is not a normal thing.  But she did so well, and we didn’t want to have to go through picture taking again.  We didn’t realize her eyes till we saw the pictures on the computer.

CALEB MARTIN

Caleb definitely keeps us on our toes.  He is a very active physical boy.  He loves dirt, cars, jumping and climbing, and just plain getting into mischief.  He loves to play with friends.  Because of this he allows his siblings to boss him around when they play.   Whether wrestling with Benjamin, or dressing up in a skirt and high heels with Brooklynn, and pushing their babies around, he loves it!  He has a very animated voice and can say some of the silliest things.  He is very strong willed especially when it comes to food.  He likes BIG portions.  He loves to listen to music, specially the Duck Tales theme song and Laurie Berkner.  He is very attached to his lightening McQueen blanket, and the the Family Proclamation scripture scout cd.  He would spend all day playing angry birds on the iPad if we let him.  He brings adventure, joy, and chaos to our lives and we love him!

 Some of Caleb’s favorite sayings.

“I don’t want that much.” = That isn’t enough I want more

“The Mountains are so beautiful, Megan and Marjorie climbed them.  How’d they climb them?”

“Connor jumped over the wall.”

“Can I play angry Birds on the iPad?”

BROOKLYNN JOY

Brooklynn is 4 and loves growing up.  She is a mix between very girly and tom boy.  She loves lipgloss, makeup, nail polish and anything to do with dolls.  But she also loves to play in the dirt, wrestle and watch mighty machines with her brothers.  I think she spends most of her days with her polly pockets, dolls and playing computer games. She also loves to play board games, draw, or do a craft and snuggle on the couch.  She was taking a ballet/tap class before we moved and loved it.  Especially wearing her tutu.  She loves having long hair, and wearing bows in it.  She is very independent when she wants to be, and  very good at acting helpless other times.  She is very sensitive, and it takes very little for her to shed tears.  We love Brooklynn and how big of a help she is, and very  kind.

Benjamin Thomas

Benjamin is 6 now! Crazy to think Chris and I will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary this December. Benjamin has become very passionate about football. He plays football everyday during recess. He loves his first grade class, and still thrives on learning. He loves to climb trees, ride his bike, read books, and play on the computer. He is a great helper and is developing his domestic skills with chores. He prefers to clean the toilet than vacuum. He has a deep love for food, and will probably be as great of a chef as his dad. He is good at memorizing random facts and might embarrasse with his knowledge. His siblings look up to him and imitate his every action. He is a great big brother and very protective of his siblings. He is very good with Riley and will do doubt be changing her diapers before to long. Though he is very advanced for his age, he is still very young at the same time. He loves to be hugged and kissed and is very sensitive. He likes to be included and gets hurt when he is laughed at. He is very good at games and will challenge anyone to a game of battleship, clue or phase ten any day. We are so blessed to have Benjamin as our son, and know he will do great things.

Thanksgiving Music Video

This is a video Chris did for Thanksgiving. It’s a week late (he got sick), but still fun. There is no sound on purpose at the beginning, so just hang tight and the music will start. Enjoy!

San Diego Trip- Balboa Park

So Balboa Park is in downtown San DIego, right by the zoo. We had a good time. There is a lot to do and you could spend a tone of money. SInce our funding was short we just did one museum, but were dissapointed the kids didn’t enjoy it very much. We also went to a puppet show. It was cute the kids enjoyed it. Then we went on a train ride and rode the carrousel. We walked around some of the gardens and other scenery and love riding the free trolley. Chris and I probably liked it a lot more than the kids and should have spent less time here and more time at the beach.

San Diego Trip- Mormon Battalion

So Chris and the Kids had been reading about the Mormon Battalion in the scriptures before our trip, so Chris decided it would be fun to go and visit. I was a little skeptical, one I am not a huge history buff and find it rather boring. Also I wasn’t sure if the kids would like it. But it was GREAT! I want to go back without the kids. I learned so much and it was a lot of fun. The presentation is very interactive and well done. You move from room to room and watch videos and hold muskets. The even have panning for gold, a look out tower, and a covered wagon for the kids. They take your picture at the end of the presentation and give it too you, and have some kid computer games. You can even look up ancestors to see if they were in the Mormon Battalion. If you haven’t been I would go. It was very interesting and it’s FREE! The missionaries run it, and it is a wonderful stop to make if you can.
